Francisco Tzul, 39 years old, is a Maya Quiche who currently lives in Panajachel, Solola with his wife Antonia and their two children (plus one on the way). Francisco was born in Canton Paqui, (a small hamlet located in the western province of Totonicapan). The Maya Quiche ethnic group is the largest in population and third largest in territory. The Quiches number approximately 1,842,115 and are spread out among six provinces scattered in the heart of the central Guatemalan highlands.

Francisco started working as an artisan in Totonicapan when he was 14 years old. He began by learning how to weave colorful ikat fabric on a treadle loom; when he turned 19 years old, he began manufacturing and selling clothing. His experience in producing fabric provided him with knowledge and skills which led him to set up a small clothing shop where he produces a variety of apparel for local, national and international markets. He employs 11 people (families), full time, in his shop and they perform a variety of tasks, producing high quality clothing. When business is good and he has several simultaneous orders, he provides employment up to 20 people in his shop. Besides, his clothing production, Francisco, also provides export service to people exporting arts and crafts and a he also runs a small clothing boutique, targeting high fashion Guatemalan markets. Francisco is happy to share that through Moonflower Enterprise's orders, which average 2 - 4 a year, he has been able to enhance his exporting capabilities. Although this was unexpected, he was forced to learn how to improve his packing, shipping and exporting skills due to the large volumes and varied types of arts and crafts that Moonflower exported. Through this experience, he was able to enhance and provide quality service in packing and exporting, which he now applies with other clients. Francisco’s dream is to gain more experience in clothing design and eventually become a professional designer; at the same time he longs to penetrate the European market with his unique and high quality clothing and apparel.
